Bonchurch Inn

The Bonchurch Inn is a wonderfully preserved example of a typical 17th century coaching inn situated within a Dickensian courtyard. In fact it was in this village where Dickens is said to have wrote much of David Copperfield. The restaurant serves both standard pub fare as well as specialising in Italian dishes and there are two bedrooms should you wish to stay over night.

Wight Mouse Inn

Attached to the Clarendon Hotel, the Wight Mouse Inn owes much of its popularity to its close location to Blackgang Chine. Having said that it is a striking old stone pub in its own right complete with excellent cask ales, good food and family friendly facilities that have made this an award winning pub.

The Red Lion

The Red Lion is best known for its Egon Ronay recommended food, including the likes of crab au gratin and homemade fishcakes. The daily menu is scribbled up on a blackboard and advice is to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Even if you’re not planning on eating this pub good location and relaxed atmosphere make it a must.

Chequers Inn

Originally used as a Customs and Excise house Chequers Inn is now a family friendly pub set in the picturesque countryside offering a children’s entertainment area as well as a child-free area to keep everyone happy. Food is served throughout the day either in the restaurant area or if you prefer in the lounge or public bar area.

New Inn

Being just a quick stroll from the quay at Shalfleet makes the New Inn a popular choice for locals, tourists and sailors alike. The stone building dates back to around 1753 making for a great atmosphere. The food is also another highlight specialising in locally caught fish and seafood that guarantees its quality and freshness.

Crab Inn

94 High Street (01983 862363)

Located in the delightful setting of Shanklin Old Village the Crab Inn dates back to the 1820’s. It is said to be one of the most photographed pubs in the UK and it is definitely picture postcard stuff. Food is served throughout the day and there’s a separate children’s menu too.
